Are there people you could protect directly or people within your community who you could encourage to join the fight against scams?

Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards are are offering 2 “Friends Against Scam” courses and 1 “Scam Champion Training” course and would be pleased to welcome you to join one of these:

·         Scam Champion Training – 16th July 2020, 10:30 – 12:30

·         Friends Against Scams – 20th July 2020, 10:30 – 12:00

·         Friends Against Scams – 31st July 2020, 13:00 – 14:30

The “Friends against Scams” courses raise awareness of scams and what to look out for and is aimed at anyone who would like to learn more about scams and how to deal with the different ones operating. After the course you will be recognised as a “friend” of the scheme and will be encouraged to talk to your friends and family about it, to help others become more scam aware.

The “Scam Champion” training is a more in depth course and is aimed at those who would like to deliver the “Friends against Scams” training to others. It will give you the tools and resources to enable you to deliver the training either to your friends and communities and/or as a volunteer for Trading Standards. You will need to have carried out the online Friends training which can be found on the website at https://www.friendsagainstscams.org.uk/training/friends-elearning

All sessions will be live, interactive and hosted via Microsoft Teams. Please note, that Microsoft Teams is accessible to all and, unless using a mobile phone, does not require the downloaded application in order to join the session. Joining instructions will be sent upon confirmation of attendance.

Parking enforcement on roads and car parks to recommence fully from 22 June.

As residents get back to work and high streets reopen, Buckinghamshire Council has announced that free parking in all council owned car parks and on-street pay and display bays will continue until Saturday 1 August.  The Council reinstated on-street car parking enforcement from 15 June and will reinstate enforcement across all 84 car parks from Monday 22 June and anyone parking illegally in a disabled bay, vehicle charging bay, restricted area, etc will receive a penalty charge notice.

Each year the Parish Council complete an Annual Governance & Accountability Return which is reviewed by an external auditor.   Any interested person has a right to inspect and make copies of the accounting records and electors have the opportunity to question the external auditors.

Waste collection services from outside people’s homes are now all back up and running across Buckinghamshire for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak.

This covers:

  • Refuse bin collections
  • Recycling bin collections
  • Food waste
  • Bulky waste collections
  • Green waste collections
  • Bin deliveries

With the re-opening many shops and businesses on Monday 15 June, road traffic will increase and Buckinghamshire Council will reinstate all of the on-street parking restrictions that were relaxed on 27 March to give key workers easier access to essential services during the coronavirus crisis. Parking enforcement on single yellow lines, limited waiting areas, and residents’ bays will recommence from next Monday.
